Impact and Transparency
An organisation that works for civil society should keep its own books open too. That is what this page is for.
Where the income comes from
Almost all of it is service income: communications, design, web and video work invoiced to associations, foundations, research centres and funders. We do not raise grants or donations.
That has a practical consequence. We decide for ourselves which work to take and which to turn down, without owing anyone an explanation. It has a cost too: the income is uneven.
Where any surplus goes
Four places:
- The cost of the free platforms. Servers, development and content for all three.
- Work done free or at cost. For small organisations that cannot afford it.
- The team. Salaries, training, equipment.
- A reserve. To cover the months when income is uneven.
We do not distribute profit.
What the free platforms cost
sivilalan.com, civicspacejobs.com and iklimsalatasi.org charge users nothing and carry no advertising. Their server, development and content costs are met entirely from our own service income. No external grant funds any of the three.
Work we do not take
We decline work from:
- Fossil fuel based sectors
- Arms and defence
- Tobacco, alcohol and gambling
- Political parties and election campaigns
This means we do not take every job that knocks, and we intend to keep it that way.
How our numbers are calculated

We round our numbers down rather than up. If you want to know how one of them was calculated, ask and we will show the working.
How we relate to the organisations we work with
Some of the organisations named on this site are ones we provide services to, some are funders, and some are institutional partners. Which is which is stated on each organisation's own card on the partners page.
